Chandrachur Singh Biography
Chandrachur Singh (born 11 October 1968) is an Indian actor, who used to appear in Bollywood films.
Early life
Chandrachur Singh is a native of Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. He was born on 11 October 1968 in New Delhi, India. He belongs to a very affluent family. His father is an ex-MLA from Aligarh and his mother is the daughter of the Maharaja of Bolangir in Orissa. He educated at The Doon School, Dehradun and St. Stephens, New Delhi.[2] He was a music teacher in Doon School before his acting career took off.
[edit] Personal life
Singh has two younger brothers; Aditya Singh and Abhimanyu Singh.[3] He married Avantika Kumari daughter of Ajai Singh of Glenmoor Cottages, Mcleodganj, Dharamshala and educated at the Lawrence School Sanawar. He has a son Shraanajai Singh.
[edit] Career
Singh made his acting debut in 1996 as the lead actor in Tere Mere Sapne, which was produced by Amitabh Bachchan's production company A.B.C.L.[2] He then won the Filmfare Best Debut Award for his performance in the critically acclaimed Maachis which released later that year.[2] He appeared in several other films and had success with his lead role in Josh (2000), opposite Aishwarya Rai, which also starred Shah Rukh Khan, and supporting roles in the hit films Daag: The Fire (1999) and Kya Kehna (2000).
After a few initial successes, his career went into a low, because of multiple dislocation of his shoulder joint, which he suffered while water skiing in Goa. Because of the pain on his shoulder, he couldn't work out or stay fit which caused him to gain weight and loose roles he had in films. Apparently, his last known film was a Govinda-Juhi Chawla starrer Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiyaa (2001), directed by David Dhawan, which failed to attract crowds. He has not acted in any film since Sharad Paar which was shot in 2004 and released much later only to not even evoke a lukewarm response. It was stated that his comeback film was Maruthi Mera Dost, which turned out to be a cameo appearance in a father role. With no releases from prestigious production houses for years and no sign of the actor moving on to character roles or roles on television, it appears that he is no longer a part of Bollywood.
